The Cowardly Lion, of the Omaha Circus and close friends with balloonist Oscar Diggs, is swept away to the Land of Oz, where he—and a number of new friends—cross paths with the Wicked Witch of the East, who seeks the mysterious Flower of Oz.

A freak tornado pulls Dorothy Gale into the wicked world of Oz just in time for the down-on-her-luck Kansas farm girl to confront Glinda, a starving cannibal who finds herself all out of Munchkin meat. Things go downhill from there, as Dorothy goes head-to-head (literally) against a skull-cracking Scarecrow, a Tin Man whose hobby is to collect still-beating hearts and a Cowardly Lion who pleases his master by ripping apart anyone he sees. Later, it was released on VHS a few times by Toei Video. In the United States, it was dubbed in English and released as part of Volume 4 in the My Favorite Fairy Tales video series, produced in 1986 by Saban Productions and released in 1987 by Hi-Tops Video. Young Dorothy finds herself in a magical world where she makes friends with a lion, a scarecrow and a tin man as they make their way along the yellow brick road to talk with the Wizard and ask for the things they miss most in their lives. A storybook opens to depict little Dorothy on the grey Kansas prairies, when suddenly a cyclone comes up, turns her world to color, and she lands on a Scarecrow, who promptly gets up and walks with her. Her dog Toto finds a woodcutter made of tin, so the Scarecrow oils him up and he accompanies them. They watch some animals reproduce before being ushered into the Emerald City by singing suits of armor and a lavish parade of overweight cops before meeting the Wizard, a devious little man who transforms eggs into uncontrollable forms, much to Billina's dismay.
